When creating the music video, there was a lot of planning that went into it, such as assigning roles, creating lyrics, and when to meet when filming. Creating the lyrics was hard, because we had to make sure the rhyme scheme still matched the song when creating the new lyrics as well as making sure the lyrics made sense with the theme of being an honors student. When working with other people, it is important to have communication, so when creating the schedule for everything, we made sure to plan out when we would meet and where and which filming place went with each lyric.
When creating this video, it was really hard to figure out which part to start filming first because we wanted to conserve our time as much as possible when filming, which takes a lot more time than I thought it would take to make the music video. We tried to have multiple people filming different parts so it would take less time, but it still took a lot of time to film the whole video. When filming, we also got to know each other a lot better and got to laugh and have a good time together, which is why we put in some clips of us just hanging out instead of just purely lip syncing to the lyrics the whole time. My whole group had a great time creating this music video and I think it turned out better than we could have imagined.
I filmed most of my parts in the video by myself after the group had its last meetup session because we had some parts missing and needed to be filmed, so I tried to be creative and create some fun visuals like in real music videos, such as the paper getting thrown at me, and me ripping the piece of paper because I was not happy with a C, like the lyrics said. When creating the different parts to film, it was really fun to come up with different ideas for filming that were silly and more creative.
Overall, this project was fun to create and it helped me realize that you can create anything you put your mind to, and that it is really fun to create music with your friends. Our song was fun to create because we made it with each other and were willing to venture outside of our comfort zone.
